St. Petersburg State University of Refrigeration and Food Engineering (SPbSUR&FE) is one of the largest and most successful universities in the country, with a long-established international reputation for high standard of its teaching and research. The origins of the University lie in Leningrad Institute of Refrigeration Industry, which was founded in 1931.
The facilities and resources for graduate work at the University are extensive. With thirty two departments and over 500 full-time academic staff the University possesses a unique range of expertise. The University has about 5.500 students, including over 200 postgraduates. Research students are accepted in all departments.
Our research activities cover:
research, both theoretical and applied, which arises primarily from the interests of the staff and students concerned; and
specific or contract research projects selected and promoted by outside bodies, such as Government, industry, trade unions, and the research councils. Such projects are brought to the University because of the expertise present here.
The variety of research activity is immense and extends across all faculties and departments, often crossing traditional subject boundaries.
